Forklift Operator - Night Shift (3 Day/12 Hour)
About The Position
This role operates in conjunction with the Distribution Supervisor to fulfill customer orders, including stacking, wrapping, collecting damaged product, labeling, loading outbound, and unloading inbound trailers. The position also involves maintaining a clean work environment according to the 5S system, assisting with shipping and receiving operations, and fulfilling customer orders using an RF handheld. Safety and efficiency are paramount in all tasks, including operating material handling equipment, loading and unloading trailers, and performing daily equipment checks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to utilize software.
- Ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc.
- Ability to write legibly in English.
- Ability to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill customer orders, including stacking, wrapping, collecting damaged product, labeling, loading outbound, and unloading inbound trailers.
- Maintain a clean work environment in accordance with the 5S system, including the machine, floors, desks, and fans.
- Assist in performing shipping and receiving operations.
- Fulfill customer orders with the use of an RF handheld.
- Stack all shipping pallets to reduce overhang and maximize stability.
- Load and unload trailers safely in accordance with defined SCT safety policies and procedures.
- Restack pallets that have fallen in the warehouse and in the transfer process.
- Operate stand-up forklift or other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Load trailers accurately concerning proper sequence, products, and weight distribution.
- Unload all deliveries or shipments from outside vendors, inspect quality, quantity, and condition, and record paperwork.
- Report any mechanical problems with equipment or any safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Maintain order in the shipping dock and warehouse areas.
- Perform daily forklift checklist and routine maintenance on equipment, including cleaning.
- Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations that add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
- Utilize downtime effectively by assisting with set-up or performing other tasks related to maintaining a clean work environment or as instructed by a supervisor.
- May be required to train new or existing employees in adherence to SCT safety and company policies.
- Perform routine housekeeping daily in adherence to company policy and warehouse needs.
