About The Position

This role involves operating a forklift in a plywood production environment. Key responsibilities include daily equipment checks, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols, and managing inventory of wood materials. The position also includes general upkeep tasks such as cleaning, waste disposal, and minor painting and window washing.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of forklift rules.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to stack units neatly with proper crossout placement and in proper rows.
  • Ability to keep wood separated by thickness, moisture, and grade.
  • Ability to keep the Dry Veneer warehouse organized.
  • Ability to inspect load heights for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to properly mark all loads of veneer.
  • Ability to keep 4x4 runners picked up off the floor.
  • Ability to use a push block.
  • Ability to take scrap veneer to the hog and hog it up.
  • Ability to pick up scraps of veneer with a shovel, rake, or by hand.
  • Ability to paint various plant equipment and materials.
  • Ability to wash windows using brushes and rags.
  • Ability to keep the trash dumpster empty.
  • Follows Company policies, procedures, and safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Completes mobile equipment report at the beginning of the shift and notifies the Supervisor about any problems.
  • Cleans and blows down forklift at the end of the shift.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of forklift rules.
  • Stacks units neatly, with proper crossout placement and in proper rows.
  • Observes for any mechanical problems with forklifts and reports them to the shift Supervisor.
  • Keeps the shift’s wood separated by thickness, moisture, and grade.
  • Keeps the Dry Veneer warehouse organized.
  • Assists in loading and unloading of Composers, as needed.
  • Inspects load heights to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Properly marks all loads of veneer.
  • Keeps 4x4 runners picked up off the floor.
  • Pushes up floor and warehouse using a push block.
  • Ensures all scrap veneer is taken to the hog and hogged up.
  • Picks up scraps of veneer with a shovel, rake, or by hand.
  • Paints various plant equipment and materials (barriers, framework, guards, etc.).
  • Washes windows using brushes and rags.
  • Keeps the trash dumpster in front of the break room empty.
  • Follows Company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
