About The Position

This role involves operating a forklift to manage plywood and veneer materials within a plant environment. Key responsibilities include daily equipment checks, maintaining organized storage of materials, assisting with loading and unloading, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The position also includes general housekeeping duties such as scrap removal and painting.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of forklift rules.
  • Ability to observe for mechanical problems with forklifts and report them.
  • Ability to stack units neatly with proper crossout placement and in proper rows.
  • Ability to keep wood separated by thickness, moisture and grade.
  • Ability to keep warehouse organized.
  • Ability to assist in loading and unloading.
  • Ability to inspect load heights for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to properly mark all loads of veneer.
  • Ability to keep 4x4’ runners picked up off the floor.
  • Ability to push up floor and warehouse using push block.
  • Ability to ensure all scrap veneer is taken to hog and hogged up.
  • Ability to pick up scraps of veneer with shovel, rake, or by hand.
  • Ability to paint various plant equipment and materials.
  • Ability to wash windows using brushes and rags.
  • Ability to keep the trash dumpster empty.
  • Follows Company policies, procedures and safety rules.

Responsibilities

  • Completes mobile equipment report at the beginning of the shift and notifies Supervisor about any problems.
  • Cleans and blows down forklift at the end of the shift.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of forklift rules.
  • Stacks units neatly, with proper crossout placement and in proper rows.
  • Observes for any mechanical problems with forklifts and reports them to the shift Supervisor.
  • Keeps shift’s wood separated by thickness, moisture and grade.
  • Keeps Dry Veneer warehouse organized.
  • Assists in loading and unloading of Composers, as needed.
  • Inspects load heights to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Properly marks all loads of veneer.
  • Keeps 4x4’ runners picked up off the floor.
  • Pushes up floor and warehouse using push block.
  • Ensures all scrap veneer is taken to hog and hogged up.
  • Picks up scraps of veneer with shovel, rake, or by hand.
  • Paints various plant equipment and materials (barriers, framework, guards, etc.).
  • Washes windows using brushes and rags.
  • Keeps the trash dumpster in front of the break room empty.
  • Follows Company policies, procedures and safety rules.
