About The Position

The Forklift Operator I works in Shipping, handling finished goods from offloading and palletizing through wrapping, staging, and trailer loading. The role follows the loading plan and shipping instructions, uses forklifts and other material-handling equipment as authorized, and completes daily shipping documentation. Employees prepare for each shift by reviewing instructions and schedules with a supervisor, obtaining supplies, and wearing required PPE and safety gear.

Requirements

Must be able to operate at least one of the following: stand-up reach lift, sit-down slip sheeter, or short- or long-walkie rider.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English as related to the job and safety regulations.
Must be able to perform basic math computations.
Must be able to learn to use equipment required to complete picking tasks.
Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
Must complete company new-hire and safety orientation.
Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
Must be able to push or pull up to 30 pounds throughout the shift.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds intermittently throughout the shift.
Must be able to attain PIT certification through the training department.

Responsibilities

Review the work schedule and instructions, perform equipment safety checks, obtain required supplies, and prepare for operations.
Offload finished-goods cases from stock, a belt or conveyor, or a staged area; palletize the cases, scan them, and verify counts.
Transport completed pallets to the shrink-wrap or staging area using a pallet jack or forklift as needed.
Shrink-wrap completed pallets to secure products for shipment.
Transport cases to the loading dock or shipping belt by hand, hand cart, or other PIT when appropriately certified.
Load full pallets onto trailers according to the loading sheet plans, using a hand cart, forklift, pallet jack, or manual handling as needed.
Replace shrink-wrap rolls and forklift or pallet-jack batteries, and move broken stock to appropriate staging areas as required.
Perform housekeeping in the work area and maintain tools and equipment; secure assigned equipment daily.
Complete daily documentation associated with the shipping process.
Wear required PPE and safety gear and perform all job functions safely.
