About The Position

Forklift Mechanic is an operations position responsible for the maintenance of our fleet of forklifts and industrial equipment. This hands-on position plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Direct forklift mechanic skills as through a combination of work experience and certification: hands-on experience repairing and maintaining forklifts and related equipment
  • Ability to operate and perform maintenance of forklift and related equipment: Ability to operate equipment controls including levers, pedals, gears, and steering mechanisms. Ability to operate hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to regularly lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, and lifting.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity; ability to accurately assess weights/distances/heights; vision for distance, close-up, and distinguishing colors.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor lumberyard and open warehouse settings with varying temperatures
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery that are typical of a lumber mill operation.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and high standards
  • Ability to work the assigned shift (11:00 AM to 7:30 PM) and OT; consistent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment with accuracy and precision
  • Attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to follow instructions; problem solving and assessment skills
  • Focus on workplace safety; ability to work with safety protocols in an industrial setting
  • Ability to be adaptable and willingness to support operational tasks outside your core responsibilities when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in an industrial yard or lumber/mill environment a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on propane, diesel, and electric-powered forklifts.
  • Conduct pre-use and post-use inspections to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, service logs, and parts usage.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership and equipment operators to proactively address any performance issues.
  • Support additional operational projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a team-first mindset.
  • Compliance with all safety rules, work instructions, OSHA requirements, and PPE requirements (steel-toed footwear, safety glasses, work gloves)
  • Keep the work area clean/organized, and work cooperatively with other team members
  • Perform other operational tasks as assigned
