About The Position

Come work for the largest equipment dealer in North America! Are you a Technician/Mechanic with auto, diesel, agricultural, material handling, lift truck or heavy equipment repair experience? If so, then we want you on our team! Technicians are at the backbone of our organization; therefore, we provide them with the tools and resources to be successful. Alta Material Handling is currently looking for a full-time Forklift Field Service Technician / Mechanic reporting to our Dorval, QC branch. This position is day shift Monday to Friday, and hourly (no flat rate!).

Requirements

  • Fluent in French - written and spoken (mandatory)
  • Two years of previous mechanical repair experience in forklift, auto, diesel, agricultural or heavy equipment repair experience
  • Possess own tools
  • Must have clean driving record and valid driver’s license to drive company vehicle
  • Basic computer proficiency, including daily use of a laptop
  • Ability to enter and update work orders in a computerized system
  • Comfortable using web-based systems, email, and standard office tools
  • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Reasoning Ability - Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Performing preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment
  • Completing each repair job in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
  • Providing exceptional customer service
  • Work and manage workloads independently
  • Accurately complete and submit all required paperwork and electronic documentation, including updating work orders in company systems
  • Track work-in-process (WIP), labor time, and job status using digital tools
  • Follow company digital workflows and maintain accurate electronic service records
  • Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time
