About The Position

A forging operator sets up, runs, and maintains heavy machinery to shape metal or plastic parts under high pressure. This is a temp-to-hire position.

Experience operating or tending assigned presses and forging equipment after setup has been completed, following established procedures and production standards.
Experience loading, unloading, moving, and positioning materials or parts using approved methods, hand tools, hoisting devices, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment as trained and authorized.
Experience monitoring machine operation and part flow during production; watching for obvious defects, abnormal sounds, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions and notifying supervision when concerns arise.
Experience performing basic visual checks and simple measurements as instructed to help confirm parts meet work order and quality requirements.
Experience separating, identifying, or reporting nonconforming parts, scrap, or rework items according to company procedures.
Experience assisting with cleaning parts, removing debris, organizing tools, and maintaining housekeeping in the work area.
Experience communicating production status, part counts, equipment concerns, safety issues, and quality concerns to supervisors, leads, quality personnel, maintenance, or other operators as needed.
Experience reviewing and following assigned job orders, work instructions, and production requirements as directed by the supervisor, lead, or setup personnel.
Experience completing required production and basic inspection documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including recording part counts, scrap, rework, downtime, and other required job information.
Experience performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience complying with all company policies and procedures, including Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Assurance requirements; wearing required personal protective equipment and following safe work practices in the forging area.
Experience reporting injuries, accidents, near misses, equipment concerns, quality issues, or unsafe conditions to a supervisor or manager immediately.

Responsibilities

Read blueprints, work orders, and technical specs to set ram pressures, stroke depths, and operational sequences.
Install, adjust, or remove dies and hammers using hand tools and overhead cranes.
Heat metal in furnaces or feed cold stock into presses, hammers, and forging rolls.
Inspect finished parts with measuring tools to verify they match exact design tolerances.
Perform basic troubleshooting, clear jams, and do routine repairs on equipment.
