About The Position

This position is for a Recreation Technician located in Tillamook, Oregon, and will run from June 15, 2026, to October 31, 2026. The Forestry Department is seeking individuals to join the ODF team that serves Oregonians by protecting, managing, and promoting stewardship of Oregon's forests. The Recreation Technician will be part of the State Forest Recreation Operations Program, responsible for managing recreation facilities and non-motorized trails on state forest land. This role involves maintenance and janitorial work, supporting facility and trail projects, collecting campground fees, assisting volunteers and partners, and contributing to various program activities. The technician will also provide information to forest visitors while patrolling campgrounds, dispersed use areas, trailheads, day-use areas, and trails.

Requirements

  • Eighteen months of experience working in the field of Parks and Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation Management, Recreation Planning, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or Forestry Education and Interpretation.
  • OR Associate degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Outdoor Recreation Management, Recreation Planning, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Studies, Forestry; or a related natural resource field of study.
  • OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience maintaining and cleaning recreation facilities, such as campgrounds, day use areas, picnic areas, and trailheads.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to provide exceptional customer service in a public setting.
  • Motivated individual with the ability to set daily goals and to prioritize, organize and accomplish assigned tasks independently with general direction and minimal supervision.
  • Good computer skill and the ability to work effectively with a variety programs (i.e., Microsoft Office, Excel, Geographic Info Systems/GIS).
  • Ability to walk on rough terrain or uneven slopes and trails, stoop or bend around structures or equipment or climb up/down ladders or equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License.
