This position supports forest health programs by conducting field surveys, collecting data, and assisting with pest management tasks. The work involves contacting property owners, following survey procedures, and completing accurate records. As a Forest Technician, you will perform the following duties: Survey Coordination: Contact property owners to explain survey needs and request access to trees or land. Trap Management: Place, maintain, and remove insect traps according to established protocols. Specimen Handling: Collect captured insects and submit samples to laboratory staff for identification. Site Assessment: Evaluate properties to identify suitable locations for surveys or treatment work. Field Data: Record information with GPS units and electronic devices and follow data entry procedures. Pest Control: Apply pesticides to manage Spotted Lanternfly or affected host plants.
