About The Position

Join the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources as a seasonal Forest Maintenance Worker and help keep our forests healthy and welcoming. This role gives you the chance to work outdoors while supporting essential conservation efforts. Your work will help visitors enjoy safe roads, trails, and recreational spaces. Be part of a team that protects and maintains Pennsylvania's natural areas. In this position, you will support the maintenance and daily operations of State Forest lands while assisting with safety, equipment use, and emergency response. You will play an important role in protecting facilities, roads, and natural resources.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and repair State Forest buildings, trails, boundaries, equipment, and tools
  • Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and specialized machinery for forest maintenance
  • Maintain safe, smooth, and properly drained forest roads and clear right-of-way areas
  • Assist with search and rescue, wildfire control, and other assigned emergency duties
  • Help with snow removal, supply delivery, facility protection, and general forest management activities
  • Maintain wildfire tools, reduce fire hazards, and assist with fire detection and suppression
