About The Position

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a Forest Maintenance Worker who enjoys hands-on work and the outdoors. In this role, you will help protect forests, improve visitor areas, and keep facilities running smoothly. Every day brings new tasks and opportunities to learn practical skills. This position supports the upkeep, safety, and conservation of state forest lands through a wide range of outdoor maintenance tasks. Work involves using tools, equipment, and practical skills to maintain facilities, roads, and recreation areas.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Required wildland fire training for wildfire suppression efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain picnic areas, restrooms, buildings, and recreation sites to keep them clean and safe
  • Operate vehicles, ATVs, chainsaws, generators, and other tools after receiving proper training
  • Repair culverts, ditches, road surfaces, and related features on state forest roads
  • Assist with wildfire suppression efforts after completing required wildland fire training
  • Use hand and power tools to complete construction, cleaning, and repair tasks across forest facilities
  • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and equipment maintenance to support daily operations
