About The Position

Join the Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation as a Semi Skilled Laborer and help make a positive difference across Pennsylvania. Your efforts will support abandoned mine land reclamation projects that protect communities and improve the environment. In this position, you will support abandoned mine land reclamation efforts by performing manual labor, operating equipment, and assisting project crews across the region. The work you will do helps protect communities, improve land conditions, and maintain safe operations.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Possession of a valid Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks such as shoveling, raking, carrying materials, laying pipe, maintaining grounds, and completing landscaping activities
  • Support equipment operators and construction foremen during abandoned mine land reclamation projects
  • Operate, maintain, and repair hand power tools including drills, power saws, chainsaws, and multi purpose saws
  • Drive truck and trailer combinations on secondary roads throughout western Pennsylvania
  • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on excavators, backhoes, skid steers, and other equipment after training
  • Maintain daily reports of equipment usage and record hours of operation
