About The Position

The Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI) is a 134-bed state psychiatric hospital seeking an organized, detail-oriented, energetic, and solution-focused Forensic Services Liaison. This role will work closely with the Director of Psychology and Forensic Services, Forensic Pre-Trial Coordinator, and court personnel to support the operations of the Office of Forensic Services at NVMHI and the provision of care. A significant portion of the hospital's population is forensically involved.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Prior experience with data entry management required
  • Significant prior executive level administrative experience required
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to maintain and effectively utilize electronic record keeping systems
  • Demonstrated organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative experience in a Health and Human Services field
  • Graduation from college or university with course work in public administration, criminology, or related field
  • Significant exposure to consumers, official agents, inspectors, and government officials
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and the NGRI graduated release process in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Understanding of the Commonwealth of Virginia Code sections pertaining to Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity acquittees

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Director of Psychology and Forensic Services, Forensic Pre-Trial Coordinator, and court personnel, such as judges, attorneys, and court clerks to support operations of the Office of Forensic Services at NVMHI and provision of care.
  • Maintain multiple schedules, databases, and other information systems.
  • Prioritize and complete multiple priority tasks.
  • Interact effectively with forensic clientele, mental health professionals, and decision-making bodies.
  • Maintain and effectively utilize electronic record keeping systems.
  • Analyze problems and create methods for completing complex tasks.
  • Effectively manage deadlines.
