About The Position

Mercy Medical Center is hiring a Forensic Nurse Examiner to provide forensic care in a supportive, mission-focused hospital environment. The role provides forensic physical assessments and evidence collection for patients who have experienced sexual assault (ages 13 and older) and interpersonal violence (all ages). Care includes injury and photo documentation, crisis intervention, prophylactic medications, and referrals as appropriate. The examiner is expected to provide factual testimony in judicial proceedings and meet annual certification and organizational requirements.

Requirements

• At minimum, a BSN degree in nursing.
• At least 18 months of nursing experience in any field.
• Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of Maryland.
• Current Healthcare Provider Level CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

• Emergency or trauma nursing experience.
• Women's health experience.
• Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide forensic physical assessments and collect evidence for patients victimized by sexual assault (ages 13 and older) and interpersonal violence (all ages).
• Document injuries and photographs.
• Provide crisis intervention and prophylactic medications, with referrals as appropriate.
• Provide fact testimony for judicial proceedings.
• Meet annual certification criteria, including 200 hours, 3 examinations, and 8 hours of continuing education.
• Complete annual OSHA, PPD, and Mercy mandatory requirements.
