About The Position

The Forensic Nurse Examiner- FNE (RN) in the Center of Hope will be responsible for demonstrating performance consistent with professional standards of practice, care, performance, the Nurse Practice Act and the mission and goals of the organization. The FNE manages patient care in the healthcare continuum to achieve optimum outcomes in a safe and cost-effective manner. The FNE demonstrates skills in collaboration, delegation, negotiation and management of resources. The FNE provides forensic examinations and nursing services for victims of violence, collects and preserves forensic specimens while maintaining the chain of custody, and works collaboratively to meet the acute needs of primary and secondary forensic patients by making appropriate patient referrals through identification and coordination of services throughout the Community Health Network and with a variety of external partners.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), National League for Nursing (NLN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited school of nursing (ASN or BSN) or three years of related professional nursing experience.
  • Completion of a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner course in accordance with the International Association of Forensic Nurses Education Guidelines required or completed within 2 years of hire date into position.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency required.
  • Minimum 2 years recent acute care clinical experience as a registered nurse required- preferably in ED, ICU, PCU, OB or Med Surg.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Forensic Nurse Examiner experience preferred.
  • Training for SANE-A certification is available and would require a 2 year commitment to the position.
