About The Position

The San Diego Unified School District is seeking a Food Services Truck Driver to join their team. This role is responsible for driving a light truck to pick up and deliver prepared hot and cold foods and supplies to school cafeterias. Requirements

  • Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to one year of recent, full-time equivalent, paid driving experience involving the operation of light trucks or other commercial vehicles on public streets and highways.
  • Possession of a safe driving record for the last five years.
  • Possession of a valid California driver’s license appropriate to the type of equipment and/or vehicle operated.
  • Must successfully pass an approved food service safety certification examination within 60 days after appointment.
  • Personal hygiene appropriate to the needs of the position.
  • Must answer all position-specific questions thoroughly, clearly, and concisely in the online application.

Responsibilities

  • Drives a light truck used in the pick up and delivery of prepared hot and cold foods and supplies to school cafeterias.
  • Performs delivery-related duties including picking up supplies, materials, and equipment from a warehouse.
  • Makes regularly scheduled and/or special deliveries to multiple sites.
  • Transports prepared food, including picking up hot and cold food transport containers.
  • Loads items onto carts and secures deliverables for transportation.
  • Uses hydraulic lifts attached to light commercial trucks, hand dollies, or similar equipment to transport materials.
