Performs all necessary duties involved in the preparation and service of school meals and the sanitation of the job site. The Child Nutrition Technician is required to give and receive information, understand and interpret written and verbal instructions, determine when an independent decision can be made, and follow policies and procedures. They will use and clean equipment, practice regular equipment maintenance, use standardized recipes, prepare meals using correct food preparation techniques, and check food quality during preparation. The role also involves creating positive interactions with students, faculty, and administrators regarding school foodservice, storing deliveries, removing garbage and trash, using safe working procedures, and adhering to established personal hygiene and sanitation techniques for food handling and facility cleaning. Additionally, the technician will serve correct portions, report food usage and leftovers, maintain correct food holding temperatures, and utilize food merchandising techniques. Other related duties may be assigned by the manager.
