About The Position

The Food Services Specialist 1 helps provide high-quality customer service for food and drinks in a restaurant or similar service area on the UT Health Science Center campus. Duties include preparing food and beverages, operating a cash register, setting up and breaking down work areas, maintaining cleanliness and functionality, and serving customers. The position may rotate among campus locations or storefronts and is expected to perform duties at any location under Food Services.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED; transcript required.
Six months of experience working in a food service environment.
Knowledge of safe work practices and area practices and procedures.
Good customer service, basic math, and fundamental computer skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Ability to work quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly.
Ability to solve problems.
Ability to follow directions with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle currency and solve problems.
Ability to meet physical demands throughout an entire shift, including standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients, beverages, and food according to recipes and directions for distribution; cook and prepare food for service.
Complete cashier transactions as needed.
Monitor and record food temperatures.
Set up and break down food stations.
Complete production sheets and label and date food in the cooler.
Compile lists of items to order, assist with placing orders, and replenish food line items and stock to appropriate levels.
Store food safely by following procedures.
Clean and maintain work areas, including floors, facilities, utensils, and equipment.
Collect garbage and trash and place it in designated containers.
Greet and serve customers with excellent customer service.
Wash pots, pans, and other items using sanitary handling; organize returns and equipment in the proper storage locations.
Attend trainings as necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
