Food Services Assistant
About The Position
The Food Services Assistant is responsible for assisting in the operation of the Food Services Program. This role involves providing a hospitable and welcoming atmosphere for patrons, volunteers, and donors, guiding volunteers with breakfast preparation and service, and organizing and processing food donations according to Union Station policy. The assistant will also help maintain inventory, prepare food, maintain kitchen equipment, and ensure a safe and sanitary environment in the kitchen and food storage areas. Additionally, this position supports menu planning, pantry organization, and meal delivery to Union Station locations. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year of experience working in food services or meal preparation in residential facility, cafeteria or commercial food establishment.
- California Department of Health Food Safety Card required.
Nice To Haves
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide a hospitable and welcoming atmosphere for patrons, volunteers and donors to Union Station.
- Provide guidance to volunteers with breakfast preparation and service.
- Organize, courteously acknowledge, and safely process food donations according to Union Station policy
- Assist Associate Director of Food Services in maintaining inventory of food and paper goods
- Prepare food and cook as necessary
- Help maintain all kitchen equipment
- Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the kitchen and food storage areas
- Assist Associate Director of Food Services with menu planning
- Maintain organization in pantry and food storage areas
- Deliver meals to Union Station locations
- Other duties as assigned.
