About The Position

The Food Service Worker supports hospital nutrition services by assisting in the preparation, assembly, and delivery of meals that meet patient dietary needs and safety standards. This role ensures meals are prepared according to prescribed diets, physician orders, and food safety regulations while maintaining a clean, sanitary, and efficient work environment. The Food Service Worker interacts with patients, clinical staff, and team members to provide courteous service, accurate meal selections, and timely delivery. Responsibilities include assembling trays, portioning food, stocking supplies, washing dishes and equipment, and maintaining compliance with hospital policies, infection control practices, and regulatory guidelines. Working in a fast paced hospital setting, the Food Service Worker plays an essential role in supporting patient recovery and satisfaction by contributing to a safe and positive dining experience. The food service worker also supports the retail cafeteria operation by serving food, cashiering, stocking and cleaning as assigned as well as catering functions for special events throughout the organization. Employees may be required to float to the other facility within Southwest Health Rancho Springs and Inland Valley Hospital based on operational needs, with appropriate orientation and competency validation provided.

Requirements

  • Maintains certification in Food Service Sanitation by the Department of Health.

  • Previous kitchen experience in an acute care facility beneficial.

  • Supporting catering functions for special events throughout the organization.
  • Floating to the other facility within Southwest Health Rancho Springs and Inland Valley Hospital based on operational needs, with appropriate orientation and competency validation provided.
