About The Position

Monterey Park Hospital is seeking a Food Service Worker for its Dietary Department. This is a per diem, 8-hour variable-shift position reporting to the Director of Dietary. The role involves preparing meals for patients according to established procedures, maintaining sanitation, and meeting the needs and expectations of patients, customers, and medical staff. The worker may also perform duties in other department areas, including office assistance, food preparation, and special functions.

Requirements

• Ability to use decimals and fractions.
• Ability to operate a cash register and make change.
• Ability to interpret a price list.
• Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification required.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment, machines, and tools.

Nice To Haves

• Grade school education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high levels of sanitation.
• Prepare meals for patients following established procedures.
• Observe FIFO systems and ensure food is covered, labeled, and dated.
• Understand, anticipate, and meet the needs, expectations, and satisfaction levels of patients, customers, and medical staff.
• Perform additional duties in different areas of the department, such as office assistance, food preparation, and special functions.
