About The Position

Under the direction of the Food Services Operations Manager, the Food Service Worker All Around works primarily in the St. Joseph Hospital Kitchen. The position performs a range of food service duties, including food preparation, cleaning and sanitizing, stocking and replenishing supplies, serving customers, working on the patient tray line, delivering patient meals, and taking meal orders. The worker uses kitchen equipment, maintains food safety, follows HACCP procedures and logs, and communicates with patients and hospital staff about dietary needs. Other duties consistent with the role may be assigned. The position supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry. Employees are required to follow St. Joseph Hospital’s Standards of Conduct and report activity that appears to violate them. The duties described are not exhaustive and may be modified to reflect process improvements and business needs.

Requirements

Strong customer service skills.
Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays.
Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the position’s tasks, with reasonable accommodation if disabled.
The work involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Attending high school, high school graduate, or equivalent is preferred.
Previous food service, customer service, or food-related experience is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides proficiency in the listed areas of responsibility may be substituted for the stated education and experience requirements.

Responsibilities

Perform food service duties in the St. Joseph Hospital Kitchen, including preparing hot and cold food, stocking and replenishing supplies, cleaning, and sanitizing.
Greet and serve customers and patients in a polite, professional manner.
Work on the patient tray line; attain, correct, set up, and deliver patient meals and trays.
Take patients’ meal orders and communicate with patients about daily meals.
Use kitchen equipment, including coffee urns, soda and drink machines, ovens, blenders, and other miscellaneous equipment.
Clean work areas using approved chemicals.
Maintain food safety and follow HACCP procedures and logs.
Interact with Nursing Administration or a supervisor, directly and through EPIC, regarding patients’ dietary needs.
Support and promote Covenant Health Ministry’s mission and values.
Abide by St. Joseph Hospital’s Standards of Conduct and report activity that appears to violate them.
Perform other duties consistent with the role.
