The Food Service Worker helps prepare and serve healthy meals to students and staff in a school nutrition setting. The role includes preparing, portioning, and serving meals; setting up and cleaning serving stations and kitchen areas; following food safety and sanitation procedures; and creating a positive mealtime experience. The position is part of a team working in a fast-paced kitchen and food service production environment. This is a non-exempt position that may be full-time or part-time, with days and hours aligned to the facility’s food service schedule. The role is primarily site-based, though occasional travel to other locations may be required for substitute coverage or support. Occasional extended hours may be required for special events or operational needs. The posting highlights a Monday–Friday schedule, with no nights or weekends, and notes that evenings, holidays, and summers are off. The position requires standing for most of the workday; frequent walking, talking, and hearing; handling food, tools, and equipment; reaching; and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, including while turning side to side. The work involves exposure to hot and cold temperatures from cooking and refrigeration equipment, regular movement in and out of storerooms and near freezers, and moderate-to-loud noise during meal service.
