About The Position

Under the direction of the chefs and Chef Supervisor, the Food Service Worker washes dishes and cleans equipment, floors, and other areas as needed to maintain sanitation. The role supports kitchen sanitation, meal service, storage organization, deliveries, and special cleaning projects. The position is located at Masonicare at Crosby Commons in Shelton, Connecticut, and is a day-shift role for 20 hours per week, including weekends. The employee follows department dress-code requirements, attends scheduled in-services, and provides care and services that demonstrate person-centered principles, including dignity, respect, compassion, coordinated support, and personalized care.

Requirements

Some high school education.
On-the-job training.
Ability to follow verbal instructions and read written directions for chemicals used.
Ability to bring objects into focus to perform job duties.
Able to meet the stated physical demands: continuous standing; frequent walking, climbing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, and carrying; frequent lifting of 1–50 pounds; and occasional lifting of over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Assist with general kitchen sanitation and follow proper sanitation procedures.
Set up the dish machine for meal service; wash dishes; sort silverware; and clean glasses.
Clean pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using proper chemicals and procedures.
Organize and clean storerooms and coolers.
Remove kitchen garbage to the dumpster and handle recyclable products.
Assist the manager and cooks with special cleaning projects as directed.
Wear clean, neat provided uniforms and hairnets as required.
Receive deliveries and properly rotate, stack, and organize items in storerooms and coolers.
Attend all scheduled in-services.
Provide care and services consistent with person-centered care principles, including dignity, respect, compassion, coordinated care, and personalized support.
