Whitsons is hiring a Food Service Worker for the Solomon Carter Fuller Center to prepare, portion, serve, and deliver meals to patients, visitors, and staff. The role supports patient health and recovery by providing nutritious meals and a welcoming mealtime experience. The position operates primarily in a kitchen and food service production environment and is either part-time or full-time, with days and hours aligned to the facility’s food service schedule. Flexible shifts include nights and weekends but no late nights; occasional extended hours may be required for special events or operational needs. The role is primarily site-based, with occasional travel to other locations for substitute coverage or support. On-the-job training is provided, and experience is not necessary, although relevant food service experience is preferred. The worker follows dietary guidelines, food safety and sanitation requirements, applicable regulations, and Whitsons policies. They complete food preparation, meal service, guest service, and sanitation tasks accurately and on time; maintain clean, stocked stations and dining areas; keep required logs and documentation; and communicate orders, allergies, dietary restrictions, and special requests to the appropriate team members. They work cooperatively with kitchen and dining staff and present a positive, professional image. The job requires standing for most of the workday; frequently walking, talking, and hearing; handling food, tools, and equipment; reaching with hands and arms; and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, including while turning side to side. The worker may encounter hot and cold temperatures from cooking and refrigeration equipment and regularly move in and out of storerooms and near freezers. The work environment has moderate to loud noise during meal service periods.
