About The Position

Located in a K-12 school, the Food Service Worker performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial kitchen, storeroom, dining, or serving area. The role may occasionally involve preparing food or cooking vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, and meats. Other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.

Requirements

Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
At least one year of work experience or documented vocational training sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of cleaning equipment, food preparation, and general cleaning processes, or suitability for this type of work.
For certain positions, a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years are required to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

Responsibilities

Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
Clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other items, then place them in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
Maintain products at required levels in preparation, serving, and storage areas, including service machines.
Stock storage areas with various products.
Clean, sweep, and wipe down general dining, kitchen, and storage areas, spike rooms, equipment, and floors as assigned.
Remove garbage from assigned areas.
Set up or break down tables, snack bars, display cases, and serving lines.
Assist with periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
Assist cooks and others as needed and coordinate activities with coworkers.
Occasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, and meats.
Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success.
