The Food Service Worker performs a variety of functions related to the safe assembly, distribution and service of food for Hospital patients, visitors and staff. This role involves attending department meetings, in-services, and training classes. The position requires anticipating and meeting customer needs, rectifying issues, and maintaining cleanliness of work areas and equipment. Adherence to HACCP standards and alerting supervisors to concerns are essential. The role actively supports department goals for operations and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include working in various tray line, cafeteria, and kitchen positions, setting up and stocking food stations, assembling patient trays, and delivering trays to patient rooms. Cleaning stations, equipment, and floors at the end of each meal is also part of the job. Additional duties may include operating a dish machine, trash compactor, mopping floors, preparing additional food items for the patient tray line, and assisting with sanitation projects. The role may also involve assisting with training new employees and cross-training fellow employees.
