About The Position

This position is for a Food Service Worker Level II-A, reporting to the Food and Nutrition Service Specialist/Food Service Manager. The role involves working 2-4.5 hours per day in a Magnet School, Middle, or High School setting. Employees hired after July 1, 1997, will follow the Food Service Worker-A duty calendar. The terms of employment are based on a 9-month calendar, with salary and work year determined by the 501 Board of Education. Successful candidates must attend and complete a Food Safety Basics class within the first six months of employment and every five years thereafter. Food and Nutrition Services staff are strongly encouraged to join professional organizations like SNA and SHAW-Wa and attend continuing education classes.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED is desirable
Basic math skills
Ability to read and write the English language
Demonstrate knowledge of food safety basics
Ability to lift 20-50 pounds
Ability to stand up to 4 hours
Knowledge of portion sizes
Ability to work with others

Nice To Haves

Attend and successfully complete Food Safety Basics class within the first six months of employment, and once every 5 years
Join SNA and SHAW-Wa, professional organizations for school food service staff
Attend elective continuing education classes

Responsibilities

Serve food to a cafeteria tray line
Prepare food in a kitchen
Perform cleaning activities
Assist in the effective overall operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Program at different kitchen locations as needed
Preparation of food items
Prepare food carts
Set food in steam tables
Serve food
Clean and Sanitize all food service areas and equipment
Maintain and order supplies as needed
Unloading and putting away stock
Take and document temperatures
Prepare for next shift
Wash dishes as needed
Other duties as assigned
