Food Service Worker I
About The Position
Under the general supervision of the Food Service Director or designee, the Food Service Worker I performs daily food service activities, assists in preparing school meals, and serves meals to students and site staff. The role also performs routine cleaning in a school cafeteria, cooking kitchen, or production kitchen, and other related work as required. This is the entry-level position in the food service class and is typically part-time. The position works 3.5 hours per day, five days per week, for 9.5 work months. The listed clock hours are 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., subject to change. The hourly salary range is $20.85 to $25.33.
Requirements
- Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
- Ability to stand for an extended period.
- Ability to operate kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment involving repetitive hand movement.
- Ability to inspect documents and other written materials.
- Ability to move about the kitchen, cafeteria, and school site.
- Ability to move, lift, push, and/or carry objects weighing up to 31 pounds in the school cafeteria, food storage area, or freezer.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, touch, and/or feel as needed.
- Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer.
- Upon conditional offer, complete a Department of Justice criminal background check.
- Upon conditional offer, complete a TB test dated within the past 60 days.
- Upon conditional offer, complete district-mandated training, including Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment training.
- Obtain and maintain a First Aid/CPR certificate through in-person training only.
- Complete a pre-employment physical evaluation conducted through the District, including the minimum 31-pound requirement.
Nice To Haves
- Commercial food service experience preferred.
- Serve Safe certification preferred.
