About The Position

The Food Service Worker I performs a variety of food service functions for the Food & Nutrition Service, which provides nutrition services to patients, staff, and visitors. Duties may include setting up service areas with food, utensils, and garnishes; portioning and serving food; operating a cash register; assembling patient trays; responding to customer requests; and, at some locations, food preparation. This PRN position is as needed and requires availability for shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as well as rotating weekends and holidays. The additional information notes building patient trays, handling dishes, and washing pots and pans.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.
• Must be able to work shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Must be able to work rotating weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional and friendly customer service and follow food safety and portion guidelines.
• Assemble meals according to the menu, diet order, and correct protocol.
• Set up service areas with food, utensils, and garnishes; portion and serve food; and assist with customer requests.
• Ensure the work area and supplies are organized before, during, and after the shift.
• Clean and sanitize the workstation and utensils.
• Use equipment and materials properly and safely.
• Perform food preparation at some locations.
• Build patient trays, handle dishes, and wash pots and pans.
