Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to maintain records, files and prepare simple reports required.
Must be a United States citizen.
Must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year food production experience in a commercial, military, or institutional setting is preferred.
Experience in the field of corrections/detainee management is preferred.
Prior correctional food service training is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of tasks associated with the cooking, preparation, and serving of foods and beverages.
Cook meals and prepare salads, sauces, desserts, coffee, and tea.
Follow standard food preparation, cooking, and service procedures.
Perform sanitation duties in the kitchen.
Wash, peel, scrape, and cut vegetables and fruits.
Prepare simple salads and slice cakes and pies.
Make coffee, tea, and other beverages.
Ensure correct recipes are followed.
Serve portions of food on trays or plates and pour beverages.
Scrape, wash, and sort dishes, glassware, and silverware.
Clean kitchen equipment, pots, pans, counters, and tables.
Sweep and mop the floor.
Assist management in simple inventory counts and gathering information for food and supply orders.
Receive deliveries and take inventory.
Prepare documentation such as preparation and inventory pull sheets, production/service documentation, sanitation records, and meal delivery records.
Assist management in conducting orientation and training for staff and detainee workers.
Monitor and direct detainee workers in tray preparation, cleanup, sanitation, and other food service area duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
