DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position supports daily meal preparation and service in a clean and organized environment. The work helps ensure residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs.
Requirements

- Willing and able to work varied hours with rotating days and weekends
- Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation
- Work experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department
- Experience in cleaning, washing, peeling, slicing, and dicing food items
- Experience using kitchen equipment such as VCM, food processor, tabletop chopper, and garbage disposal
- Experience chopping, dicing, and slicing meats, poultry, fish, and cheeses
- Experience heating simple foods such as eggs, sandwiches, and hamburgers
- Experience preparing sandwiches, assembling salads, and serving portions, including desserts
- Experience plating and serving meals from hot food cart
- Experience cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items
- Experience transporting and assisting in loading and unloading food delivery trucks from kitchen and dining rooms
- Experience transporting food and supplies to and from freezers, refrigerators, and storeroom
- Experience with selective menu, taking food orders, waitressing, and dining room service
- Experience with food cart and dining room serving area setup
- Experience reading meal and tray tickets or tags
- Experience with tray assembly and working on a tray line
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment
Responsibilities
- Prepare food items, beverages, and nourishments using correct portions
- Assemble trays according to diet requirements and GeriMenu instructions
- Load, transport, and unload food carts for snacks, meals, and beverages
- Clean dishes, equipment, furniture, floors, and food preparation areas
- Record inventories, temperatures, meal counts, and other required information
- Follow safety rules, report hazards, and use protective equipment when needed
