About The Position

Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to support the daily operations of our food service department. This role helps oversee kitchen and cafeteria operations, patient tray line service, inventory, food safety, and staff scheduling to ensure quality service for patients, visitors, and employees. The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for supporting daily food service operations, including patient tray line service, cafeteria operations, dishwashing operations, receiving and storing delivered food, maintaining supply levels, and assisting with departmental workflow. This position also helps supervise food service workers, train staff, assign duties, and ensure department protocols are followed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead and function in all areas of kitchen and food services
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to support daily department operations

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory skills preferred
  • Experience in a medical or healthcare environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations of the food service department, including kitchen, tray line, cafeteria, and dishwashing areas
  • Serve food on the patient tray line and assist with cafeteria operations
  • Operate department-specific equipment, including dishwasher, tray line equipment, telephone, and cash register
  • Receive, store, and stock delivered food and supplies appropriately
  • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies
  • Train staff, assign duties, and assist with work schedules
  • Supervise food service workers and ensure department protocols are followed
  • Monitor proper temperature control in all food service areas
  • Assist with special functions and work orders
  • Help support hiring, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive, professional representation of the organization
  • Follow hospital policies, infection control procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
