About The Position

The Food Service Manager is responsible for oversight of the Meals on Wheels & More operations, including planning of menus, supervising staff, directing volunteers, ordering food products and supplies, cooking and supervising others who cook, serving and preparing meals for delivery and coordination of delivery of meals through volunteers and staff. Responsible for kitchen and facility cleanliness, Meals on Wheels records, and proper accounting for donations made to MOWM. Work in harmony with team members, other agency programs, agency staff and community partners.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Five years’ experience in food service, food preparation, restaurant management or similar field required.
  • Experience working with kitchen equipment required.
  • Successful cooking experience required.
  • Experience supervising staff required.
  • ServSafe qualified.
  • Must be organized, dependable, excellent communicator, resourceful, able to adapt and be a team player.
  • Must be able to balance supervising others in a close setting within a fast paced, working environment.
  • Must deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Must understand safe working conditions using industrial kitchen equipment.
  • This position requires bending, turning, twisting and lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • This position also requires a valid driver’s license, safe driving record and clearance of ABI/FBI background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience in preparing large quantities of food.
  • May require out-of-state travel to attend national Meals on Wheels America training events.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and adopting best practices for the Meals on Wheels & More program to be most cost effective
  • Provide exceptional customer service for our clients.
  • Orders and oversees the proper, timely delivery of food products needed for each week. Uses established agency purchasing procedures.
  • Ensures perpetual inventory is well maintained and replenished.
  • Works with vendors to purchase seasonal, locally grown products.
  • Work with Fiscal office to ensure competitive pricing is in place in accordance with fiscal policies/procedures.
  • Receives and is accountable for deliveries and maintains accurate records of invoices. Submits invoices to fiscal department regularly.
  • Delivers invoices for payment every Monday to Central Office.
  • Flexible in menu planning and preparation depending on product availability.
  • Guides and directs the activities of staff and volunteers to ensure timely, proper, safe delivery of meals.
  • Calls clients to explain when they are placed on the waitlist once all required documents are obtained.
  • Directs and is involved in the daily cleaning and sanitation of equipment and work areas at the MOWM facility.
  • Conducts and maintains weekly sanitation inspection including temperature log checks.
  • Maintains Meals on Wheels & More vans following agency’s maintenance guidelines.
  • Follows procedures for properly preparing meals and handling food.
  • Notifies Facilities staff for repair or maintenance of facility and equipment.
  • Frequent interaction with the general public (Unitedего tours, local church conferences, etc.) and ability to make verbal presentations to such groups.
  • Follow-up on any client or volunteer issues.
  • Delivers all donations to Central Office twice per week (Monday and Friday).
  • Delivers route sheets every Friday to Central Office before close of business day.
  • Provides meals for staff/volunteers during Neighborworks Week as needed.
  • Supports and understands the vision and mission of the Partnership.
  • Other duties may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
