About The Position

This position is in the Labor, Trades, and Crafts Union (LTC) at a Range 56. In the AVTEC Cafeteria, using written and verbal directions, prepare, cook, and service meals for an average of 200 students per meal; maintain a clean work area and follow facility procedures for security, cleanliness, and serving. Under direction of Food Service Foreman, the position is delegated authority to change orders and assign work to Food Service Journey employees.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of preparing and serving food for consumption.
  • Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences.
  • Must meet Alaska Residency Requirements.
  • Ability to meet the Competency Specifications stated in the Position Descriptions on the Local 71 website.
  • Must register with the Local 71 Union prior to applying.
  • Local 71 enrollment will be required no later than 30 days after accepting the position.
  • Provide a list of three (3) professional references, one of which should be your most recent supervisor, including name, job title, employer, and current phone number(s) at the time of interview.
  • Certify that you have a legal right to accept employment in the United States.
