About The Position

The University of Nevada, Lake Tahoe campus is recruiting for a Food Service Cook/Supervisor 3. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position is responsible for assisting the Food Operations Manager and the Executive Chef in running and maintaining successful business operations in Social House, Catering, Community Engagement Events, and the Coffee Venue. This position will report directly to the Assistant Executive Chef and will provide support to all other team members as needed. The Food Service Cook will ensure all food that is served is wholesome and nutritious and done so in accordance with all Health Code Standards.
This position coordinates daily operations of the coffee venue and Social House, ensuring efficient workflow, service delivery, and a high-quality guest experience; assigns, directs, and monitors the work of student employees and other assigned staff; monitors sales activity, inventory levels, product availability, and operational needs; and assists with ordering, receiving, merchandising, and inventory management for coffee, beverage, food, and retail products to maintain adequate stock levels and minimize waste.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of experience which involved planning, preparation, and serving of regular and special meals; following established menus; ordering food supplies; and maintaining records in a military, institutional, correctional, healthcare, hospitality, or other large quantity food service facility.
• One year of the required experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
• TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) or equivalent certification.
• ServSafe Certification or equivalent certification.
• Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience as a Food Service Cook/Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities
