About The Position

The Food Service Bartender provides evening bartending services during Zoo Lights at the Henry Vilas Zoo from 11/12 through 12/23. The role delivers welcoming guest experiences, oversees bar product quality and inventory, serves guests responsibly, and maintains clean, safe, and organized bar operations. The bartender works with guests, clients, staff, and leaders while upholding company policies and demonstrating SSA’s hospitality approach. The role also supports inclusion, team development, sustainability and conservation efforts, and community engagement.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, combined with the ability to stay organized.
• Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform job duties.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and move and handle boxes weighing up to 35 pounds as necessary, including lifting.
• Ability to work varied hours and days, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, welcoming, and memorable experiences for every guest and client.
• Oversee product quality, product levels, and inventory.
• Fulfill guest needs quickly and efficiently and resolve complaints effectively.
• Set up, execute, break down, and clean the bar during each shift.
• Demonstrate knowledge of alcoholic drinks and bartending techniques with guest service in mind.
• Serve guests responsibly and maintain a safe environment.
• Maintain a friendly and approachable attitude toward clients, guests, and staff.
• Communicate clearly and openly with leaders.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency.
• Maintain a professional appearance and manner.
• Keep the work environment clean, safe, and organized.
• Uphold and demonstrate understanding of company policies and procedures.
• Promote an inclusive and supportive approach within the Brand team and across units.
• Help remove barriers and empower growth and opportunity for team members at all levels.
• Lead by example in sustainability and conservation efforts, understand their business application, and provide opportunities to teach unit staff as needed.
• Engage with SSA and the unit in community efforts and opportunities to give back.
• Perform other tasks as necessary.
