About The Position

Wheeler Mission Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping those experiencing homelessness and those in need. This role is considered a ministry and a vital part of the team. The Food Services Associate (FSA) executes all operational aspects of kitchen support during their assigned shift, working alongside others to provide nutritious meals to approximately 100 – 350 guests, staff, and participants while maintaining a safe, clean, and grace-filled environment.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of successful, recent work experience, demonstrating dependability and a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn, grow and develop in previous roles and situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn software systems that support the role.
  • Must be SERV Safe Certified or be able to acquire this certification within 6 months of being hired.
  • Belief in the inerrancy of the Holy Bible.
  • Adherence to WM Employee Policies.
  • Alignment with WM Core Values.
  • Walking short distances with the ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to type and operate standard kitchen and office equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform normal culinary functions with endurance to remain standing for long periods of time.
  • Strength to lift donations, food items and equipment up to 30 pounds.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings and holiday hours.
  • Adherence to Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Adherence to Confidentiality Policy.
  • Post offer acceptable background check required for all positions.
  • 1+ years of sobriety.
  • Must sign and adhere to WM Drugs and Alcohol policy and remain free from addiction to drugs or alcohol and illegal drug use.
  • Candidates must submit to and pass a drug and/or alcohol test.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preparing food in a commercial setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides 3 meals per day at the assigned site, including preparation, serving, and cleanup.
  • Maintains a safe and clean kitchen environment that meets all applicable state, county, and city statutes and codes and complies with best practice standards.
  • Collaborates with others to execute responsibilities.
  • Contributes to recipe designs.
  • Assists with menu selection.
  • Maintains an orderly kitchen and stores and prepares food efficiently.
  • Reports any breakdowns and malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
  • Attends regular team and site meetings.
  • Completes other duties and prepares for special events when requested.
  • May be asked to assist in the supervision of program guests and volunteers.
