About The Position

The Food Service Worker supports the daily operation of the school food service program by assisting with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and providing excellent customer service to students, staff, and guests. This role helps create a welcoming and efficient dining environment while ensuring food safety, quality, and compliance with all applicable health and sanitation requirements. The Food Service Worker serves as a positive representative of Lenawee Christian School and contributes to a Christ-centered atmosphere through servant leadership and hospitality.

Requirements

  • Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
  • Exhibit a consistent Christian testimony and adherence to biblical principles in personal and professional life.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, humility, and a strong commitment to excellence and servant leadership
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food service, hospitality, customer service, or cafeteria experience preferred.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Food Handler certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Accurately record all hours worked.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, portioning, and meal assembly in accordance with established recipes and procedures.
  • Serve meals to students, staff, and guests in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Maintain appropriate food temperatures and food safety standards.
  • Assist with stocking serving lines, beverage stations, and food displays.
  • Monitor food quantities and communicate replenishment needs promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and food service equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize work surfaces, serving lines, tables, and equipment.
  • Properly store food, supplies, and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Remove trash and recycling and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Interact positively with students, staff, families, and visitors.
  • Foster a welcoming and Christ-centered dining experience.
  • Address routine questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
  • Demonstrate patience, kindness, and professionalism when serving children and guests.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
  • Comply with Lenawee County Health Department, State of Michigan, and Ministry food service requirements.
  • Utilize proper food handling, storage, and cleaning procedures.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational problems promptly.
  • Assist with cafeteria setup and closing procedures.
  • Support special events, catering functions, and school activities as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and school personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Model Christ-centered character, servant leadership, and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, staff, and guests.
  • Help create a welcoming, positive, and Christ-honoring dining environment where students feel valued, respected, and cared for.
