This position is responsible for informing customers of services available, assisting customers with service requests, and reporting service requests to the Support Center. The Food Service Assistant communicates with the Coordinator and Diet Office on a daily basis or more often as required, reporting specific customer needs, expectations, and status. They must respond promptly to all types of communications, both oral and written. Key duties include preparing service lines for meal service, assembling patient trays accurately and within time standards, delivering food carts to nursing units, assembling patient nourishments, requisitioning and storing supplies, cleaning assigned areas (including conference rooms), collecting and disposing of trash (including operating a compactor), completing daily floor care in non-patient areas, working in the dishroom, collecting and delivering menus, and participating in educational programs and department meetings as an active team member. The role also requires following sanitation and HACCP standards, maintaining organization and cleanliness of work areas, and participating in self-development through mandatory inservices and education programs related to equipment use, cleaning procedures, and other departmental goals.
