About The Position

Regional West Medical Center is seeking a dependable and team-oriented Food Service Assistant to support the daily operations of our Dietary Department. This role is essential in providing safe, timely, and nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors in a healthcare environment. Food Service Assistants work across multiple areas including food preparation, tray line, cafeteria service, dish room, and room service operations while maintaining high standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including entire shifts.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items from floor to waist level.
  • Ability to work safely around kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and hot surfaces.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and detail.
  • Positive attitude and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous food service experience preferred but not required.
  • ServSafe certification preferred (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals.
  • Support patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Work on the tray line.
  • Deliver and pick up patient meal trays.
  • Assist in the cafeteria.
  • Keep meals accurate by following diet orders and special requests.
  • Assist with tray delivery for patients in isolation, following proper training.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by washing dishes, sanitizing equipment, and properly handling and storing food.
  • Provide friendly customer service.
  • Step in where needed to support department operations.
