About The Position

The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is seeking an experienced part-time Food Service Assistant. The successful candidate should have the ability to work well with others and have excellent customer service skills. Applicant must show evidence of following and understanding a standardized recipe for preparing high quality food, and must follow established sanitation and safety procedures. Under direct supervision, prepares meals for recipients of The Main Street Academy school nutrition program and assists with daily cleaning of food service area.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Ability to work well with others.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to follow and understand a standardized recipe for preparing high quality food.
Must follow established sanitation and safety procedures.
Knowledge of nutrition; food handling; preparation; service and sanitation; and all related and established policies and procedures.
Skill in oral and interpersonal communications.
Skill in inventorying and ordering food service supplies.
Skill in identifying equipment problems and furthering service requests.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one (1) year of closely related experience is preferred.
Experience in institutional food service is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists in the preparation and service of breakfast & lunch for TMSA students and staff.
Works with manager to ensure the meal management is accurate.
Assists in implementing sanitation and safety procedures in receiving, preparing, storing and serving food.
Cleans equipment; maintains cleanliness of work area.
Serves as cashier; enters cash from meal purchases into the system; calculates total payments received during shift and reconciles with total sales.
Performs other duties as assigned.
