About The Position
The Food Service Assistant position is located at Memorial Union’s Peet’s Coffee and Badger Market. This role involves assisting with daily operations, including preparing and serving beverages, operating the register, stocking merchandise, food, and beverages, and maintaining inventory levels. A strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices is required to ensure a clean and welcoming environment. Excellent customer service skills are essential to provide a friendly and positive experience for all patrons.

Responsibilities
- Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities
- Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers
- Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes
- Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- Assists and guides student workers
