About The Position

The Food Service Aide works in the Nutrition Services department and performs foodservice duties such as preparing and serving food, assisting with tray assembly, delivering and retrieving patient trays, gathering and delivering snacks, and maintaining food quality and temperature. The role also includes supporting patient meal requests and following facility and departmental procedures to promote patient safety and accurate nutrition orders. On-the-job training is provided. The position requires working every other weekend and holiday.

Requirements

Customer service and/or food service experience is preferred but not necessary.
Ability to meet the physical and sensory requirements of the position, including walking, sitting, standing, handling, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, occasional bending, climbing, and reaching; hearing normal conversation; and general, far, and peripheral vision.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred.
Customer service and/or food service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare, set, and serve food as directed, ensuring proper temperatures and portion sizes.
Perform minor food preparation and portioning in accordance with departmental policy.
Prepare and gather items for snacks and breaks and deliver them to the appropriate areas.
Assist with tray assembly.
Deliver patient trays in accordance with facility and departmental procedures.
Use two established patient identifiers to support patient safety.
Check trays for accuracy and compliance with nutrition orders before delivery.
Position trays appropriately, help patients open tray items, and check whether additional or missing items are needed.
Pick up soiled trays promptly and return them to the kitchen for cleaning and storage.
Maintain proper food quality and temperature.
Work every other weekend and holiday.
