About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring ingredients, products, and processes comply with internal and external requirements. It involves supporting material and product testing, collaborating with manufacturing departments to improve food safety programs, and ensuring the success and compliance of new items and process changes. The specialist will also foster a team environment, track key performance indicators, adhere to safety policies, report food safety and quality issues, and complete special projects. This is an individual contributor role with no supervisory or direct budget responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Food Science or related field.
  • 5 years in food plant quality.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • HACCP Training.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring ingredients, products, and processes are compliant with internal and external requirements.
  • Writing, verifying, validating, and approving internal processes for material and product acceptability and traceability.
  • Supporting material and product testing conducted within in-house and external laboratories.
  • Assuring proper alignment and organization of internal systems for adherence to customer and external expectations.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing departments to improve current food safety and quality programs.
  • Implementing new food safety and quality programs.
  • Supporting the Food Safety Culture within the facility.
  • Ensuring success and compliance of new items and changes to processes/systems related to Food Safety and Quality Systems.
  • Fostering a team environment and learning within the Quality Group.
  • Assisting in tracking key performance indicators within the Quality Group and for the facility.
  • Sharing knowledge and assisting in the learning of the department.
  • Adhering to all safety policies and procedures and incorporating safety and health in all tasks and responsibilities.
  • Reporting any and all food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
  • Assisting with any corrective actions.
  • Completing special projects and other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Assuming back-up responsibilities for other FSQ positions as assigned by the FSQ manager.
