About The Position

We are on a mission to grow Second Nature Brands to $1+B in the next 2 years through a combination of organic growth (increased distribution, e-commerce, and innovation) and through M&A. We have an opening for a Quality Assurance Specialist position, who will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth. This position will be based out of our Sahale Snacks facility, 3411 S. 120th Place, Suite 100, Tukwila, WA 98168. The Quality Assurance Specialist ensures that all products meet company and regulatory quality and safety standards. This role involves monitoring production processes, conducting inspections and tests, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maintain compliance with food safety regulations. In addition, assist operations by managing the movement, storage, and distribution of finished goods. This role is essential in ensuring production runs smoothly and efficiently while maintaining food safety standards. Regular working hours are Tuesday through Friday from 4:00am – 2:30pm, weekday or weekend overtime as needed. Schedules subject to change based on business needs.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • 2 years of college, or college degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years in a GFSI certified food manufacturing facility, within a Food Safety/ QA role preferred.
  • HACCP certified.
  • PCQI certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 117.
  • Working knowledge of RedZone and SAGE x3 or SAP preferred.
  • Must be detail oriented, have good organizational skills, ability to follow directions and be able to work independently.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English is required to ensure comprehension of CGMPS (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) and accurate completion of production documentation related to food safety and traceability, for compliance to food safety laws and regulations governed by US agencies (FDA, USDA/FSIS).
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements for data entry, documentation, sampling, and testing activities.
  • Ability to use a computer, tablet, and other office equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to visually inspect products, labels, packaging, production equipment, and sanitation conditions, including the ability to distinguish colors and identify defects.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and kneel, for extended periods frequently.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs occasionally.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Seldom lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear proper PPE (personal protective equipment) provided by the company.

Nice To Haves

  • The duties of this job will require the exposure, sampling and taste testing of allergenic foods including tree nuts, peanuts, soy, milk, and sesame.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the following systems: CAPAs, Environmental Monitoring, Allergen Program, Sanitation Program, and Hold Program.
  • Conduct daily pre-shipment review and release products from maturity hold as needed.
  • Evaluate, update, and ensure compliance with SOPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and FSQMS procedures.
  • Manage documents in document control through change control and revision history.
  • Support regulatory compliance, GFSI certifications, and audit readiness.
  • Support training programs to ensure staff understand SOPs, SSOPs, and QA procedures.
  • Provide new employee orientation training as needed.
  • Report internal site scorecard results and KPI’s as directed.
  • Serve as back-up to QA technicians and QA manager as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
