About The Position

As a Food Runner, this position will provide support to restaurant servers/bartenders and the overall operation of the restaurant by serving food orders, removing used dishes and utensils, and replenishing service areas as necessary to ensure our guests’ satisfaction. A Food Runner is knowledgeable of food and beverage offerings and provides service that is informed, attentive, timely, and professional.

  • Must have upper body strength to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Requires finger, hand, and upper body dexterity to push, pull, and move levers, equipment, and furniture.
  • Must be able to work with arms raised above head for extended periods.
  • Regularly carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Fluency of the English language is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to understand and compose instructions, memos, and short correspondence.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and backgrounds preferred.
  • Previous exposure to a restaurant setting preferred
  • CPR/Heimlich training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Deliver food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately
  • Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
  • Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g. food allergies)
  • Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
  • Remove dirty dishes and utensils
  • Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
  • Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)
  • Clean, set and clear tables in support of restaurant servers when needed
  • Provide serving support to servers – beverage and food
  • Maintain restaurant in clean and orderly manner
  • Move table and chairs as required
  • Coordinate stocking of linens with management team
  • Transport all dirty tableware to dishwashing area for cleaning
  • Stock and maintain stations with necessary equipment
  • Helping other outlets within the department as needed
  • Completes any duties or projects assigned by the Food and Beverage manager
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel standards.
  • Adhere to hotel rules and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
