About The Position

The Food Runner communicates orders and information between the front of house and back of house, ensuring that food is cooked in the right order, quickly, and presented to the customer as beautifully as possible in a timely and complete manner. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient kitchen operations and ensuring a high-quality dining experience.

Requirements

• Exceptional organization, coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to call out orders across a line and maintain composure in a loud, hot environment.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Must be in good physical condition with hours of bending, standing and working in hot conditions.
• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma required.
• Minimum two (2) years restaurant and/or hotel food and beverage and/or culinary experience required.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Experience in a first-class, luxury restaurant and hotel required.
• Leadership Skills: Essential for successful execution between the kitchen and floor.
• Sense of Taste and Smell
• Time Management skills and able to Multi-Task
• Certification of tuberculosis clearance required.
• Food handler’s permit or certification

Nice To Haves

• Culinary training and/or restaurant certifications preferred.
• CPR and Standard First Aid Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that all kitchen orders are prepared in a timely manner and according to menu and customer specifications.
• Finalizes the presentation of the plate, ensuring it is dressed and garnished correctly and free from smudges or spills.
• Tests the temperature of the food.
• Directs the kitchen and wait staff who are delivering completed orders, to keep orders flowing from the kitchen to the diners and maintain timely service.
• Explains special orders to the cooks.
• Informs servers when the kitchen is out of a particular menu item.
• May handle customer complaints.
