About The Position

Urth Caffé is hiring a Food Runner to support kitchen operations and provide prompt, courteous service to guests. The role includes organizing and receiving deliveries, assisting with food preparation, maintaining the expediter station, preparing takeout orders, and delivering food and requested items while checking quality, presentation, and order completeness. Food Runners also help maintain clean, safe dining and work areas and communicate guest requests or issues to management.

The position requires regular physical activity, including lifting up to 25 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods, and working in cold environments. For the PM shift, closing duties include storing patio furniture, sweeping the outdoor patio, and cleaning, restocking, and organizing the expediter station. Management may assign other responsibilities as business needs evolve.

The role is in person. AM and PM shifts are listed for every day of the week: Monday through Sunday. Pay is $18.50 per hour.

Requirements

• Communicate effectively in English and maintain a friendly, courteous demeanor.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly without assistance and request help for heavier items.
• Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
• Ability to navigate uneven terrain or confined spaces safely and climb ladders safely.
• Ability to work in cold environments.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment for extended periods.
• Ability to perform repetitive physical movements, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and pushing.
• Wear required safety gear, including a safety belt and slip-resistant shoes, at all times.
• Use a hand truck when moving or lifting items over 15 pounds.
• Prioritize guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Organize the walk-in refrigerator and receive, store, and properly date deliveries.
• Assist the kitchen with daily food preparation.
• Set up and maintain the expediter station.
• Prepare utensil roll-ups for kitchen use.
• Stock takeout supplies and package takeout orders.
• Deliver hot food promptly and check food quality and presentation before serving.
• Greet guests professionally, deliver food, offer assistance, and thank guests.
• Serve food using a napkin to hold plates; ensure orders are complete and check whether additional items are pending.
• Deliver utensils, napkins, condiments, and side items as needed.
• Pre-bus tables according to the “full hands in, full hands out” standard and refill water on return trips.
• Deliver cakes and pies to the kitchen as needed.
• Ensure guests receive requested items and confirm satisfaction.
• Notify management promptly about issues involving outside food, beverages, or smoking, and communicate additional guest requests.
• Follow safety procedures, including wearing required safety gear, using a hand truck for items over 15 pounds, monitoring spills and hazards, and carrying trays or bus tubs carefully.
• For the PM shift, store tables and chairs, sweep the outdoor patio, and clean, restock, and organize the expediter station.
• Check in with management during the shift about additional duties.
