Food Runner
About The Position
Urth Caffé is seeking a kind, hardworking, and dedicated Food Runner to support kitchen operations and provide attentive guest service. The role includes receiving and organizing deliveries, assisting with food preparation, maintaining the expediter station, preparing takeout orders, and delivering food and requested items promptly while checking quality and presentation. Food Runners are expected to communicate guest requests and issues to management and prioritize guest satisfaction. Duties may evolve or include additional responsibilities assigned by management based on business needs. The position is performed in person. Team members must follow safety practices, wear required protective gear, and be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, walking, bending, and working in cold environments. For the PM shift, closing duties include storing patio furniture, sweeping the patio, and cleaning, restocking, and organizing the expediter station. Shifts are listed for every day of the week, Monday through Sunday, for both AM and PM.
Requirements
- Communicate effectively in English and maintain a friendly, courteous demeanor.
- Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly without assistance and request help with heavier items.
- Use a hand truck when moving or lifting items over 15 lbs.
- Wear required safety gear, including a safety belt and slip-resistant shoes, at all times.
- Respond quickly to sounds.
- Safely navigate uneven terrain or confined spaces and climb ladders.
- Work in cold environments and wear personal protective equipment for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive physical movements, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and pushing.
- Prioritize guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Organize the walk-in refrigerator and receive, store, and properly date deliveries.
- Assist the kitchen with daily food preparation.
- Set up and maintain the expediter station.
- Prepare utensil roll-ups for kitchen use.
- Stock to-go supplies and package takeout orders.
- Deliver hot food promptly and check food quality and presentation before serving.
- Greet guests professionally; deliver food, offer assistance, and thank guests.
- Serve food using a napkin to hold plates, ensure orders are complete, and confirm whether additional items are pending.
- Deliver utensils, napkins, condiments, side items, and other requested items as needed.
- Pre-bus tables according to the “full hands in, full hands out” standard and refill guest water on return trips.
- Deliver cakes and pies to the kitchen as needed.
- Confirm guest satisfaction and promptly communicate additional requests to management.
- Immediately notify management about issues involving outside food, beverages, or smoking.
- Follow safety procedures, monitor and address wet floors and spills, and remove debris and hazards promptly.
- Adjust outdoor arrangements to weather conditions and ensure dogs remain clear of entrances and stairways.
- Maintain awareness when carrying trays or bus tubs to prevent accidents.
- For PM shifts, store tables and chairs, sweep the outdoor patio, and clean, restock, and organize the expediter station.
- Check in with management during the shift for additional duties.
